Company History

My early experience came from C&J Builders, one of the Stockton, California area's largest commercial-industrial construction and development companies.  C&J Builders was owned by my father, Charlie Whiteside.  My father passed away unexpectedly in December 1985 and my mother decided not to continue the company.  I had worked with my father in the capacities of project sales and design, estimating, drafting and engineering coordination, contracts supervision, and liaison with all governmental agencies.

After my father's death, I worked for H.D. Arnaiz Corporation where I was involved in the design, coordination, and construction of the Stockton Auto Center.  The first phase of construction comprised:

  • Big Valley Ford
  • Pacific Valley Motors
  • Stockton Nissan
  • Stockton Dodge
  • Valley Volkswagen and the Community Center Building.

While at C&J Builders, as well as ever since then, my focus has been on turn-key design/build commercial construction.  Our advantage over competitors has been our open-minded creativity in searching out cost saving construction methods while maintaining structural integrity and pleasing aesthetics.

As an example, while at C&J Builders, I designed and built the Anheuser-Busch distribution facility.  This project was an integration of metal building and wood framed conventional construction incorporated with a state of the art cold storage warehouse, all of which achieved national attention in approximately 15 national industry journals.  The owner was quite happy with the completed project since he was able to realize an estimated savings of 25% to 33%!
